He just told me about a body whose needs cannot be reconciled within the culture in which it lives. Away from that culture, here, the needs come forward.

It was a difficult situation; I was aware of how much we had in common, yet it’s not something that can be put into words for someone who hasn’t yet felt it. It’s something embodied, but to be closeted is precisely to experience a disconnect between your body and your language. You can’t find the language to describe prohibited desire within a culture which prohibits desire.
