@petercoffin: PR-minded people adopted symbols, knowing to people who don't understand, making a stink about the okay symbol looks ridiculous - so they want the stink made.

A debate about if a Jewish Mexican woman is flashing a white power symbol is success beyond the wildest dreams for the person who worked to make it confusing whether or not the okay gesture is associated with white supremacy.

Why do you think the PR-minded ones adopted it? They knew that to people who don't understand, making a stink about the okay symbol looks ridiculous - so they want the stink made.

That's the scam.

The argument is the goal, not the total co-option of any symbol. If the argument happens, they feel that enables them to more easily paint the left as "having messed-up views and priorities."

With plenty of people (too many), I think this is probably true.

It's not about what the symbol itself means, it's about setting traps and springing them.
