@DecolonialBlack: porn ban is directly related to both growing tech (vertical) monopolies, as well as the ongoing efforts by the state to make the internet unsafe for sexuality in general and sex workers specifically.

On a serous tip that Tumblr porn ban is directly related to both growing tech (vertical) monopolies, namely Verizion and Apple, as well as the ongoing efforts by the state to make the internet unsafe for sexuality in general and sex workers specifically.

Its just funny how the solution to child porn/sex trafficking concerns seems to always be banning sex related anything across the board even though there are plenty of (not quite perfect ofc) ways of moderating these platforms.

And tbh if you can't properly moderate your platform for illegal content while still allowing folks to go about their business then maybe your platform is too big/unsustainable (going back to monopolies).

This "its too much to directly moderate/silo" that is applied to illegal content n adult content can be applied to any form of online deviancy cuz the state is more sympathetic to the profits of big tech (moderation costs $$$) than the sustaniability of online public discourse.

Anything online deemed illegal by the state could get banned by this logic and its something that we need to head off sooner rather than later.
