The reactions to the protests in France are appalling. People appropriating the anger towards a neoliberal government to attack the left and promote reactionary politics. This happens over and over again.

The center fails and the left gets the blame. It's propaganda.

Right wing "populists" are trying to get conspiratorial ideas like the NWO/Illuminati, white genocide and imminent communist revolution into the mainstream. When they push centrists like Macron into the "radical left" camp, they're drawing those conspiracy theories to the center.

This has happened worldwide, with Brazil being one of the worst examples of anti-leftist hysteria running rampant in recent history.

"You call everyone you a Nazi" is a popular catchphrase on the right, yet calling everyone they don't like "communists" is their modus operandi.

Anyone who claims "the left" has a stranglehold on anything in 2018 is a fucking dimwit. The hysteria about a communist revolution is based not on threats from the left, but the failures of the center and this is why concerns about the far right carry more legitimacy.
