a very harmful effect of existing in an environment where saying the wrong thing online can get you kicked out of every social space is that it becomes necessary to justify everything you do/say as entirely correct. even existing in its harmful, i cant imagine being raised in it.

in a social sphere where one mistake means that people will police who even tries to be friends with you for years, it becomes necessary to be "right", and i have a feeling that it bleeds over beyond necessity — that it becomes natural to defend everything you do as correct

the truth is we're messy. we're human. we make a lot of mistakes, we fuck up all the time, we are constantly growing. there's nothing more important to being a good person than recognizing the constant need for growth. but this "one mistake haunts you forever" env discourages it.
