Friendship is Freedom
You cannot force it, nor can it be contained. It is natural, not artificial. No amount of planning or logic can explain this, only a daring to believe in magic timing. This is not about meeting the perfect people at the perfect time. Neither is it about the duration of friendship. Instead it is time in terms of rhythm. When the spaces are felt not overthought and there is a slow easiness speaking in uninhibited tones. Steps align, eyes meet, smiles flash, laughter rings and we forget the thoughts that imprison our hearts. Finally, free to feel.
But maybe our ability to imagine collective futures hasn’t been damaged for good. The old ghosts don’t just haunt us, they also give us inspiration. Last time we saw this much history emerge from hibernation was in 14th century Italy, and the Renaissance was about to begin. Like those who came before us, we’re overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of memories and histories that are bubbling up to the surface. We’re still in the early days of the digital age, and I trust we’ll figure out how to adapt to the time machines we’ve built.
