our spiritual work is deeply political work — resources for settlers working with plant medicines to examine characteristics of white supremacy culture and root their personal healing in collective liberation.

  • How can plant medicines help us move from ally to accomplice?

  • how can plants help us metabolize our ancestral grief / intergenerational trauma?

  • how do we center upholding the sovereignty of Native people in the psychedelic community?

  • How can plants help us see through the illusion of privilege to ultimately relinquish it?

  • what are your healing lineages? how has the distance / absence from these practices affected you? How can ancestral reconnection help us not blindly appropriate / capitalize on other healing modalities?

  • how can we create ~accessible~ containers to hold each other accountable in the face of shame and guilt without judgement?

  • how do we show up and claim each other, instead of perpetuating purity politics and colonial standards that separate us?

  • how do we not perpetuate the appropriation and commodification of these plants? how do we actively protect them while connecting this work to larger environmental protection goals? how can relationships with plant medicines help us become committed land stewards?

  • how do we keep medicine accessible?

  • what does solidarity feel like in our bodies? how do we root ourselves while remaining open?

  • how can plants help us learn accountability and to move out of our victimization?

  • how do we do all this in community not isolation?

I dare you to spend more time cooking for others than you do sending emails. To mend your socks and weave rings out of grass. To invite friends, neighbours, the bus driver for dinner every night. And I mean every night until they’re sick of your cooking and begrudgingly invite you round.

I dare you to look after people you don't like. As in, believe they are a good person and help them find whatever it is they need. If they don’t know what they need, give them little trinkets (a token of your love).

I dare you to share ferociously, like you’re allergic to ownership. Compulsively give away your clothes, your jewels, your art. Become disgusted by waste, an empty home such an atrocity; you’re spewing on the verges.

what's something that once shifted in your body everything would move?

The arising of a new heaven and by implication a new earth are not future events that are going to make us free. Nothing is going to make us free because only the present moment can make us free. That realization is the awakening. Awakening as a future event has no meaning because awakening is the realization of Presence. So the new heaven, the awakened consciousness, is not a future state to be achieved. A new heaven and a new earth are arising within you at this moment, and if they are not arising at this moment, they are no more than a thought in your head and therefore not arising at all. What did Jesus tell his disciples? “Heaven is right here in the midst of you.”
