How much of the 'human quality' of a singer-songwriter, for example, can be replaced mechanically? If the physical effort is tremendous, can it compensate for the disillusionment due to a mechanically delegated task? If the performer was turning the crank that activates the machine? If the performer was biking in order to produce electricity?
