We stand there, in the middle of the crowd after Trans Pride, at a little square, beautiful queers all around reclining on the glass, the light is fading slightly, and I hold her much smaller body in my arms. I close my eyes and dissolve in the ambient noise of voices, which are excited, drunk, happy. I hold her close, and this closeness is different to any other – through our shared memories of a distant place we connect like we could be in this embrace forever.
