We started to use the resources that became available to us during this strange time. We used Zoom for meetings and performances so we could plan the rest of the project. We discussed having an Instagram Live performance to announce the release date and give a sneak peak to "quarantune" since so many artists are doing the same to connect with their fans. I had no idea it would be possible to keep moving forward, but we carried on.
I sketched a rough storyboard of the animation and decided to dive right into creating what I was imagining in my head. I wanted to take advantage of all the resources I had at home, so I planned for every verse of the song to be animated in different styles (the first one would be made with hand painted assets, the second out of cut paper/collage, etc). I wanted to continue using the doodles, part of HOOPLA's identity, but the stick figure character was out of place in the colorful world I created. I then looked for further inspiration to help me redesign the character. I looked into things like children's drawings to carry on the doodle aspect of my original plan.
