Make the straw move around and bend. At the moment it’s very static. Try changing its shape and bring the straw to life, spin it around, bend it etc.
Watch “The dot and the line”
Show more about how the straw is hurting animals. For example, a straw sticking in the turtles eye or have straws and plastic appearing in the turtle and it bulging. Straws coming out of their mouth.
Don’t go too cartooney
Can try drawing storyboard smaller.
Focus on the affect on the animals and expand material. maybe cut out a few of the first scenes that are irrelevant
Maybe the video can be about how the straw hurts different animals such as dolphins, birds
I thought we could have this text effect saying, “ocean” in the scene where the straws fall into the ocean as I feel like that would be appropriate.
I played around with animating the text in our animation. I found a tutorial on making a liquid water text reveal. This effect is essentially waves filling up and the text is revealed. This turned out to be a really cool effect we might think about using it in our animation.
I added the particle scene that I previously tried into our current animation. I also added the text, “never leaving the earth”, timing it to appear as the narration states it. We feel like this effect fits in with the rest of the animation and looks interesting with all the circles appearing and moving around.
In one of our scenes for our animation, I am trying to show how plastic only breaks down into smaller particles, never leaving the Earth. Therefore, I experimented with using the particle effect. I came across this tutorial on youtube and thought it could be a good idea to try out. What I essentially did with the effect was create different size circles and had them float around and appear and disappear throughout the scene. I chose to make the circles the colour blue as it would tie in with our colour palette for the rest of the animation. I then added text, “200 years” on top to reinstate that plastic takes up to 200 years to degrade.
