Serge Gladky (French, 1880–1930)
5 ½" x 3 ¾" each
Floral Motifs. Set of 3 French Art Deco pochoirs, each initialed S.G. in pencil by the artist lower right, from a limited edition of 500, adhered to paper backing with artist name and title inscribed, overall 8 ½" x 11 ½".
Architect, decorator and graphic artist, particularly active in the years 1920-1930, Serge Gladsky identified with the Art Deco movement inspired by his interests abstraction and geometry. In this desire for simplification, he finds a new means of graphic expression thanks to the stencil, a technique that combines with bright and shimmering colors and which becomes a real visual spectacle.
