Project Row Houses is a community platform for engagement, art, & direct action that occupies a significant footprint in Houston’s Historic Third Ward, one of the city’s oldest African-American neighborhoods. In 1993, artist Rick Lowe and founding collaborators began exploring how a neighborhood could be a resource to community and how art might be an engine for social transformation. The Project Row Houses model for art and social engagement has been applied not only to Houston, but to diverse communities around the world.
