Info

Opened 1962. Designed by architects Kazuyuki Matsushita and Hideki Shimizu for the Century 21 Exhibition. Other major public works completed in Seattle for the Exhibition were the Space Needle, Alweg Monorail, Washington State Coliseum, and the Playhouse (now KeyArena and Cornish Playhouse, respectively). The fountain was reconfigured and modernized in 1995 by WET Design. The updated design was intended to elicit greater interaction from the public.
