Brown University MCM0230: Intro to Digital Media
Lukas W
Info

This course introduces students to the critical study of digital media: from surveillance to
hacktivism, from cyberpunk fiction/films to art installations, from social media to video
games. We will analyze the aesthetics, politics, protocols, history, and theory of digital
media. Special attention will be paid to its impact on/relation to social/cultural
formations, especially given new media’s “wonderful creepiness,” that is, its
compromising of the boundaries between the public and private, revolutionary and
conventional, work and leisure, hype and reality. Chun 2016
