A common way that MTHA is encountered is through erosion, degradation, breakdown. The rusting of an engine, the "personality" of a finicky door lock, the erosion of monuments to ruin etc. The necessary agency of human culture counter to this process is commonly known as repair, maintenance, upkeep. Our inability to respect the labor and value of repair stems from our inability to acknowledge and respect the agency of non-human actors.
