Sister Corita Kent's work is a great source of inspiration to me. Her subject matter is often American consumerism products. She uses their packages or copy writing out of their intended context to create invisible layers of communication by combining them with activists’ quotes or her own writing to create interesting friction. I can relate to her work mostly because she as well comes from a religious background and is involved in activism and pop culture as broader themes communicated through her art. Her methodology is extremely interesting as well. She works by layering screen prints and incorporating found objects.
