Germ City: Microbes and the Metropolis
Museum of the City of New York, 2018

This exhibition has a pretty standard setup: objects relevant to the topic are displayed in glass cases, and text and animations are shown on the walls. The branding is not my favorite, but it does bring everything together through color.

1920s Exhibit on Conservation
Carnegie Museum of Natural History

In efforts to educate and raise awareness about the pollution of the environment, two smaller dioramas were created of an existing diorama of wildflowers. These two dioramas showed nature destroyed: one by garbage and the other by fire. When the exhibit opened, it attracted many people due to its unusual approach. The diorama format was not new, but the content was.

Our Senses: An Immersive Experience
American Museum of Natural History
2017

This exhibition is about the senses and how our perceptions are not always an exact reflection of reality. While this information could have been presented in a technical, matter-of-fact manner, this exhibition showed it in an immersive, eye-catching way. Visitors could experience rather than read about the topic. It uses mostly flat, large-scale 2D visuals to make the exhibition engaging.

Cité des Enfants.
Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie

This children's museum uses play as a learning method. The exhibits all have interactive elements: kids can experiment with water and wind, play in a fake construction site, or change the wheels on a wooden car. The museum moves away from the conventional, static educational exhibit and makes the experience more memorable.
