I think that inside of every black artist is a white man looking at a black person. And that your job as an artist is to kill that white man and get him out of the way.
The act of creation having found expression in the two attributes sublimity and success, the work of conservation is shown to be a continuous actualization and differentiation of form. The problem at hand is a perplexing and interesting one - in a world of abundance how do we express ourselves and socialize? Are we going to forever chase the sugar high of superficial engagement and reach as a proxy for who we are? I hope not.
