My project title is Bulls and Banana Petals. My concept is stubbornness, the feel of organized chaos, intricate, but simple. I went analogue with the sketches, and set up the vector outline, pencil and ink. Did the rest of the compositions with photoshop, utilizing the paint bucket tool, a variety of transform tools, and the use of bi- symmetry.
Some stylistic elements I have incorporated are the use of contrast with a dark black outline, and muted and grayscale tones. I also used overlapping shapes, flat colors, and hand drawn textures. Swirls, curved lines, pointed sharp points of shapes, and cross hatching. One shape running into each other with no gaps.
The Principles of Design that I’m utilizing are bilateral symmetry, directional conflict, happy little accident use of a bull head silhouette. Pattern throughout the linework and repetition of colors.
I’m using a wide variety of 12 colors for my color palette, muted and gray tones. For the muted tones, and black outline, my color scheme is low value, with some intermediate tones and a high tone parchment tan color. High and medium contrast.
Working on this project I wanted to get better at photoshop and make a cool design; I understand more tools of photoshop better now, and I feel confident about the Diptych's.
