searching for a harmonic balance between the on-line and the off-line. looking for those places where technology connects us to—rather than disconnects us from—the space/time of our 'real world'.
the taking a break from technology approach doesn't work, it isn't a sustainable model even on the personal level and it promotes and encourages the disconnect between the digital and the natural that it claims to be a response to.
we often view technology as being a distraction from nature, with the two being in opposition. is it possible to use technology to re-connect with our natural world? can the digital and the natural be used to protect both our planet and ourselves? can we develop a deeper appreciation for our world—all aspects of it—through better integrating our experiences online with those irl?
