The more concrete elaboration of these rough contours follows under the headings “From a market economy to an economy for everyone” and “Produce according to capacity, take according to need”. In this, BIJ1 sets itself the goal of nationalizing the important economic sectors. This means that “banks, pension funds, public transport, healthcare and other basic industries” are placed in “public hands” as far as the party is concerned. Moreover, the companies in those sectors are managed by the employees where the government only assumes a facilitating and supervisory role. Production planning in “every sector and company” becomes the responsibility of the employees. Bij1 believes that this will create “a better and fairer balance between supply and demand”. This is the mechanism they propose to control prices and profits. Employees are also allowed to take a grasp of the profit that their company makes (Program Committee BIJ1, 2020: 27).
