Kristian works as a multimedia designer whose interests lie in social issues and community, culture, localized publishing, and field work and incorporates these interests into his projects and collaborations. Much of his focus has to do with bringing his filipino culture into his works and he actively collaborates with people to help speak out of those in the “peripheral” or those overlooked in society- such as the local printers and publishers in the philippines that help print and bind books at a lower cost and in a more intimate setting and style. He communicates his ideas in the form of publications in order to create a circulation of information while communicating with others.
Brief points about Kristian and his work:
- Rewrite history in a contemporary way
- Community and social spaces
- Language and vernacular
- Margin and periphery- things unseen and overlooked by mainstream
- Inspired by filipino life and culture/ blue collar workers/ local publishers
