Depictions of Architectural Density in Hong Kong
Depictions of Architectural Density in …

I seem to be dreaming more and more now because I am forced to sleep in regular intervals. In them, I have a good degree of control over events rather than being a spectator – I don't know if that qualifies as lucid dreaming because I can't recall any times when I actually acknowledge that I am in a dream. I usually accept all the things that occur or that I make happen without making the distinction that some of these things aren't possible in the 'real' world. They don't often stray that far from the realm of possibility though and that's why sometimes they get confused as real memories. The fantastic elements are usually pretty subtle. Sometimes I envy people who always have super crazy dreams where they are shooting lasers and riding unicorns. I think there was a talking fox in a dream I had once.

Late in the evening, I am confused by drink and by all the turns in the streets he has led me through, and now he has his arm around me and asks me if I know where I am, in the city. I do not know exactly. He takes me up a few flights of stairs and into a small apartment. It looks familiar to me. Any room can seem like a room remembered from a dream, as can any doorway into a second room, but I look at it longer and I know I have been here before. It was another month, another year, he was not here, someone else was here, I did not know him, and this was an apartment belonging to a stranger.
