I have always grappled with the label — generalist. But lately, I have come to embrace it. A gentle generalist, I am no expert. Instead I love inhabiting the in-between spaces and exploring the edges of all things unseen, unknown and dreamed in-between.
As an immigrant from India now living in California, I find myself inhabiting the space between two homes, sometimes belonging to both at once and other times never fully anchored to either. As a designer, my methods meander between product design and speculative design, often straddling the line between disciplines.
So what happens when you blur the boundaries, even if momentarily? Selfishly, I used this as a chance to reflect on my work, only to realize how exploring diverse curiosities and skills lets me use different lenses to reveal something new each time. I hope this session leaves you excited to explore the fringes and the spaces that lie in-between.
