apart from the regular sightings of bulbuls, starlings and doves, we haven't been spotting anything new recently until today! short, high pitched chirps from a nearby tree notified us to the presence of a flighted friend. I only caught a vague glimpse of it — it was small, with a red crown and white-ish underbelly. its coat of feathers seemed grey but we couldn't tell precisely because of the foliage. but it seems to have been a tailor bird of some kind :)
Saw what was likely a collared kingfisher yesterday in a tree! Can’t be for certain, but it had a beautiful blue and white coat, and a particularly long, prominent beak.
I keep forgetting to log!!! but super exciting; heard a beautiful bird call from my window and just managed to catch the last of it before it stopped.
merlin app says its likely an oriental magpie Robin
i emailed you but cant skip out on tradition, going around doing my fall edition of guestbook signing! tell me about someone you love!
passing through the neighborhood again for my summer edition of are.na guestbook signing! hello sweet lina, how was the research you mentioned in your last note? how was your july? if i ever want to feel how fast time really moves, all i have to do is check how many months ago my last note to you on are.na was, spooky stuff. any new bird or butterfly sightings? hoping you have a restorative and warm august 🥣
hi lina!! i found you through....i forgot but i'm really enjoying your collections. your public diary is my favourite – the block about juggling TA + coursework + research is so relevant to me as a grad school .... i'm scared i won't be able to prioritize my research next term with two research assistant positions + a (potential) internship @_@ it's comforting that someone else is struggling through the same thing! thanks for creating such a cool community, i might start a public diary like you hehe
