"We live locally and, until recently, had always recommended to overnight visitors that they stay at the Mantra. Now, given that management has chosen to be complicit in the illegal detention of refugees and asylum seekers, we are suggesting our friends and family members stay at St Georges Motor Inn down in Thornbury. Who could possibly get a good night's sleep in a place where innocent men are locked up 24 hours a day, for many months on end - simply because they chose to seek protection in this country? We are sickened at the very idea that our friends and family members have put money in the Mantra's coffers."

Review of Swissotel Sydney, 5 April 2020
Pool and gym facilities were closed. There was no warning provided. For some reason there were at least a dozen Australian cops and Australian border security officers on the premises 24 hours a day. They're out the front of the hotel, in all the foyers, and coming in and out of lifts all the time! It's quite confronting. All of the staff have gloves and/or masks on, which is good I guess. However we also saw a medic in full ppe hazmat suit removing what appeared to be a guest this week, what the?!
