My parents initially wanna name me "Wu Suowei 吴所谓", meaning "whatever", or "it doesn't matter", because they think it doesn't matter if I'm a girl or a boy.
The plan failed because the celebrity host Yang Lan has already named her son Wu Suowei. This Wu Suowei is three years older and much more well-known than me, so my name would automatically become plagiarism. Today I just learned that the actor Wu Jing has named his son Wu Suowei as well.
Grandpa has also thought of the name Wu Zhongyi 吴钟宜, as 钟 hints at my hometown and has my mom's family name as a radical. One day, grandpa said, "what about Kehuan?" My parents instantly knew that it's the name.
It works out for the best. This name has received nothing but praise of how beautiful and special it is. No one else in the world has my current name. Honestly if Wu Suowei is one-of-a-kind, it would be quite cool to be named "Whatever". Your name becomes a motto and a lifelong mental tattoo that asks you to be chill. I would be growing up being made fun of by other kids, though.
