Welcome to the exhibition. The galleries presented below arose from an open call for works launched during the Corona virus lock down. Submissions in any medium were welcomed from all over the world, with a handful of micro-commissions supported by the Arts Council in the UK. We recognised the importance of this historical moment, for having revealed much that was unsustainable and unfair in the current socio-economic system, for having forced a moment of wider realisation of our inescapable interdependence with nature, and with each other, and for having proven the possibilities for rapid changes at all levels of society if we value what really matters. Artists and public were invited to respond to a brief about what sort of healthier ‘normal’ they would hope to return to, their reflections on what they don’t want to see coming back, or their visions or hopes for system change towards brighter, sustainable, more meaningful futures for our civilisations.
Please join the conversation - click on a block to enlarge and make text and links appear. For a smooth experience, don't click 'connect', just click elsewhere on the block. Then we invite you to use the 'share' links at the bottom of each enlarged block to share a block on social media. You can share individual artworks and your thoughts, links and resources, on social media so that these thoughts and questions may ripple onward. Please tag @Swarm_Dynamics if you do, so we can compile any interesting ideas or resources and feed them back into the text in these galleries. Alternatively if you sign into are.na (it's free and only takes a second to create an account) comments boxes will appear and allow you to comment directly in these galleries. Please be respectful of all artists and works while commenting and sharing. And check back over coming weeks, - we will be posting more links to resources, inspiration and information about system change and environmentally sustainable transformations in this gallery. Explore deeply and share widely!
