My mom was bed-ridden most of my childhood and I've got executive function issues and meltdowns associated with autism/adhd. I spent much of my childhood taking care of myself and my siblings.
Technology is not a "toy" to me, nor are these services simple conveniences that they appear to be for the abled. These are the invisible crutches I use so that I can stand and look you in the eye.
I am not replacing my mom. I'm replacing myself and all the unpaid labor that larger society seems to ignore. I reject their narrative.
